There are 3 main types of shock (and two others that are as serious but less common). Two or three types of shock can combine together in the same patient and produce what we now decided to call "shock combo". This occurs when shock is severe. (For instance, a patient with severe cardiogenic shock and systemic ischemia can have activation of the inflammatory system (S.I.R.S.). Or a patient can start with septic shock and, again, because of the severity, become cardiogenic as well... and so forth. Obviously, a "shock combo shituation" is far worse than shock of a single type.
